The company behind the site WESTCOAST DIGITAL AB, which has created popular internet services since 2011. However, our employees have been working on the Internet much longer than that. The company is based in Trollhättan, Sweden.
The Idea
Popularhotels.com publishes categorized lists of the best hotels in selected cities. The main focus is to make sure you select the best hotel by providing a list of hotels that other travelers in the same category has explicitly liked.
2024 RE-LAUNCH
During the development of Popularhotels.com’s sister site, the hugely popular flight service FlightsFrom.com, we noticed that many visitors were looking for help choosing hotels during long layovers at airports. As we started thinking about how to address this need, it became increasingly clear that the requirements vary among different types of travelers. It also became evident that we had already begun addressing parts of this issue in the first version of Popularhotels.com back in 2014. After reviewing our data providers and algorithms, we realized that building a new, vastly improved, and redesigned version of Popularhotels.com was possible. In October 2024, we launched version 2 of Popularhotels.com.

Target group
Our target audience is travelers who don’t settle for the first available hotel but are looking for the most popular accommodations in their travel group and destination. Currently, we are sorting our audiences into categories such as couples, business travelers, families, and price ranges. In addition to these travel groups, we also focus on and create specialized pages for solo travelers, larger families, travelers with pets, airport hotels, and ski resorts.
Data & basis
We have full access to the leading providers of hotel information and real-time room availability. Our algorithms and hotel selection editors are currently processing 80,180,491 guest reviews and 1,846 surveys.
How does our website work in practice?
Well, to help us, we have an editorial staff and several skilled programmers. By collecting and analyzing large amounts of information we give our editor's first pass list of the hotels that seem to be among the most attractive and popular. Then they review the previous guests experiences and to make sure they agree with our choices. Finally we select the best of the best accommodations for the final list and it is these that we present on this website for each city.
As a final step in the review process we manually check reviews to influence our selection, keeping our information up-to-date. This is particularly important because things can change over time. A hotel may undergo renovation or a change of ownership. Quality standards and service can change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. In either case we want to know.
