Unique hostel set in a former Boeing 747 jumbo jet, right next to Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
The STF Jumbo Stay is a unique and original concept - it's a hotel inside a real jumbo jet! Definitely one of the coolest stays in the world.
The former Boeing 747 that houses the hotel is right beside Stockholm Arlanda Airport and there is a complimentary shuttle bus every 15 minutes between 5 AM and midnight. The distance from the hotel to Stockholm city center is 40 km or about an hour by taxi.
Jumbo Stay offers 33 rooms 2, 3, or 4 beds in a room. The most luxurious is expectedly the room occupying the upper flight deck. The rooms are somewhat small, given the limited space, but organized in a practical way with bunk beds or double beds and a functional design.
All rooms have a flat-screen TV and WiFi access. The more luxurious rooms have private showers but standard rooms don't. The latter can use the shared showers and toilets in the main corridor.
The check-in starts at 4 PM, which is late for the industry. Check-out is at 10 AM - also rather early.
There are no amenities found in standard airport hotels - no restaurant, or gym. This is not surprising given the scale of the hotel - it's designed as a cool place to stay for a night before a flight and not a full home away from home.
The hotel is unmanned - no staff is present most of the time.
There is a tiny lounge area and ostensibly a bar which is not useful without any staff present.
The free breakfast is basic - Swedish bread, butter, and spreads.
Overall, the STF Jumbo Stay is a quirky hotel for airplane enthusiasts or those looking for a unique place to stay but falls short of standard airport hotel expectations.
