The Great Hallingbury Manor & Lodges is just 3 miles from London Stansted Airport or an 8-minute taxi ride. While its proximity to the airport is convenient for travelers, the hotel has a standout countryside setting and a secluded feel with its traditional Tudor-style Manor main building. The hotel doesn't organize a shuttle from and to the airport, and public transportation options are limited, so a taxi is the most convenient way to reach it. On the plus side, you can use the Park and Fly package if you arrive by car before your flight.
The rooms have the necessary amenities you would expect from any hotel such as tea & coffee-making machines, flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, and complimentary toiletries. The bathrooms are very luxurious. The lake and the gardens around the hotel are a marvelous backdrop for the views from many of the rooms' windows. Some rooms have double-glazing windows against the noise, however, others, particularly those in the separate lodge, may be noisy because of the passing airplanes, given the location near the airport flight path and the minimal soundproofing.
The hotel aims to be carbon neutral very soon and is eco-friendly in all aspects. This, paired with the old buildings also means the rooms take a while to heat up on colder days.
Dining at the hotel is not possible at the moment because of ongoing renovations for the foreseeable future. The bar is also under renovation. Basically, the hotel offers just rooms until it's ready with the maintenance works on the additional facilities. Until they are finished, this is considered the biggest drawback of Hallingbury Manor.
Overall, Great Hallingbury Manor offers a charming and historic stay with lots of character but falls short on many things you'd expect from a 4-star hotel.

Where is the best place to park the car? We will arrive in the late afternoon.
Our main car park is located on the first after you pass the hotel if coming from the M11.
What kind of breakfast is served and where in the hotel is it available?
Unfortunately, we are currently operating on a room only basis therefore we are not offering breakfast. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
What is the cost of the shuttle and how often does it depart?
We do not offer a shuttle to or from the airport. Our receptionist would be more than happy to book taxis on your behalf should you require it. The average cost to the airport would be £20-£25.
We need to eat in the evening, are there any good restaurants nearby you can recommend?
There are a few local restaurants in nearby Bishop’s Stortford which is only a five-minute drive from us, we would recommend Côte as it has a good range of options.

The hotel is located in a really beautiful area and has easy access to the airport. The price was good for the value that you got and all the staff that I encountered during my stay were nice. Room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
