Holiday Inn Express Milan-Malpensa Airport is situated in Case Nuove, a village between Terminals 1 and 2 of the airport. It is just 3 kilometers from either terminal and the free airport shuttle stops 5 minutes on foot from the hotel, then goes to the terminals every 15 minutes. Another option is the paid private shuttle that the hotel offers. Milan city is a 45-minute drive away. There is free parking for anyone arriving by car and the reception stays open 24/7.
The hotel rooms are bigger than average, clean, and comfortable with free wifi, flat-screen TVs, and air conditioning. The rooms are well soundproofed and you won't hear a thing during your stay. Some have reported problems with the AC. The settings can only be changed by the front desk and the 24 degrees can be either too hot or too cold depending on your preferences. In the rooms, there is a fridge and a kettle for hot water but no microwave.
The on-site restaurant is a bit basic and the menu is short. It's open only until 10 PM. You can find other restaurants in Case Nuove though.
On the other hand, the hot and cold buffet breakfast served at the restaurant starting at 5 AM is much better with a lot of variety and assorted food. You can arrange for a breakfast box if you leave before 5 AM for an early flight.

Our complimentary breakfast it’s a continental buffet breakfast available every day from 05 am until 10 am.
What is the cost of the airport shuttle and how often does it depart?
Regarding the transfer from/to the airport there are two options. The first is our private transfer, available 24/24h, only by request. The cost is €15,00 per room, per ride. From the airport, you just need to call the reception (+39 0331 18330) and we will send the shuttle to pick you up; from the hotel to Malpensa airport you can reserve a seat at the reception, during the check-in.
The second option is the free public shuttle bus that connects the two terminals. It runs every 20 minutes from 4 am to 1 am and every 30 minutes from 1 am to 4 am. It stops 300 meters from the hotel and the stop where you need to get off is called “Case Nuove”. At T1 you can catch the bus on floor -1, in front of the Sheraton hotel; at T2 you can catch it on the ground floor in front of the pharmacy, near gate number 4. No reservation and no ticket is needed.

The hotel is located close to the airport which was perfect for me since I was leaving Milan early in the morning the next day. Also there was a free shuttle to the airport! The staff were welcoming and the breakfast was tasty and had a lot of different things.
