The Lotte New York Palace is located across the road from the St. Patrick's Cathedral on Madison Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. It's a walking distance away from The Museum of Modern Art, Central Park, and Grand Central Station. The hotel offers free transfers to Wall Street and Broadway theatres twice a day. The hotel comprises the landmark Villard Houses, designated as a historical place. Together with its contemporary 55-story glass and steel tower, it is a unique juxtaposition of classic and contemporary architecture.

The hotel offers a choice between 909 rooms and luxurious suites on higher floors of The Towers, which provide expansive views of the Manhattan skyline. The rooms offer lots of living space but are a bit dated and lack some commonly-expected amenities such as a coffee maker, a safe, or a fridge. The bathrooms need refurbishing too and the quality of bath products leaves a lot to be desired. The biggest pain point has to be the surcharge for wifi - you would expect complimentary wifi from such a high room rate but alas - it's an expensive add-on leaving a sour taste. All in all, the decor is outdated, but the rooms indeed present good views of the Cathedral and the city.

The hotel's dining venues are the Villard House, known for its farm-fresh breakfasts, and Rarities, an intimate 25-seat invitation-only salon with a secret entrance, offering nearly priceless wines and fine spirits. Unfortunately, this also means that it's incredibly hard to get a table. Worry not - there are plenty of restaurants nearby and reception can recommend a place.

The historic Villard Mansion can serve as a timeless backdrop for weddings and social gatherings. The hotel offers meeting spaces for any kind of event too.

The hotel's spa center is one of a kind and an extraordinary space with a private yoga studio and seven treatment rooms featuring state-of-the-art “sound healing” experiences. The 24/7 gym is a superb addition to the wellness part of the hotel.

Lotte New York Palace offers a sophisticated retreat that may be a bit outdated for contemporary tastes but tries to keep in line with the ever-growing guest expectations. In some areas like wellness and dining it does the trick whereas in others, like the rooms' interior and amenities, it leaves a lot to be desired.
