The Peninsula Bangkok is a top luxury hotel situated along the western bank of the Chao Phraya River. It has a unique wave-shaped design that makes it possible for each of the 370 guestrooms and suites to have an unobstructed view of the river. The hotel is well connected to the central business district by Skytrain and to Bangkok’s cultural sites via river taxis. Bangkok's prime mall, IconSiam, is just a few minutes away on foot or by the complimentary boat shuttle. The hotel also offers a river shuttle service to anywhere in the city along the river.
The rooms are large and feature advanced in-room technology like bedside touchscreens for controlling the temperature and lighting in the room, electronic curtain controls, and a flat-screen TV. The beds often receive the highest marks for comfort. Some have found them to be a bit old school although the intended effect of the hotel is for an old-time luxury charm. There are three riverside dining venues at the hotel. The luxury Mei Jiang is renowned for its Cantonese cuisine; the traditional Thiptara offers contemporary Thai dishes in the garden; and the River Cafe & Terrace with both its indoor and alfresco seating options is perfect if you crave international food.
Breakfast is served at the latter, featuring a rich buffet of various options.
One of the hotel's greatest assets is the large three-tiered outdoor pool with an adjacent bar for cocktails and light snacks. There is also a compact yet well-equipped fitness center and a luxurious 14-room spa in a separate three-story Thai colonial-style building by the river. The spa offers European, Eastern, and Ayurvedic therapies in private suites with steam showers and en-suite whirlpools.
