Stay in nicely decorated rooms at this three star hotel close to Times Square.
The Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square West is a modern hotel located between 8th and 9th Avenues, in Midtown Manhattan. Not to be confused with a property with the same name (without "West") just 2 blocks away. The hotel is a short walking distance of Times Square, Madison Square Garden, and the Empire State Building. The nearest subway station is a 5-minute walk away at 34th Street - Penn Station.
The hotel rooms are contemporary with a clean, efficient design and equipped with the usual amenities for convenience. Not the biggest but sufficient. Rooms include flat-screen HDTVs with premium cable channels, mini-refrigerators, coffee makers, work desks, and strong free wifi. Some rooms, especially those on higher floors and near the elevator, offer city views for the true NY experience. The rooms with corner windows are even better. However, opening the windows also exposes you to a lot of noise from the busy streets below. A minor shortfall is the lack of complimentary water in the room.
The hotel houses The Bistro does not feel like a real restaurant, hence the name. It serves light fast food meals and snacks and isn't even open on the weekend. The breakfast is poor for hotel standards and not much more than a Starbucks coffee and a choice of pastry - not worth the high price tag. There is also a 24-hour Market for snacks and beverages on the go.
There is an on-site fitness center sufficiently well-equipped with modern exercise machines.
Business travelers will appreciate the hotel's business center and meeting room facilities.
The Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square West is a mixed bag. You may get an awesome room or a mediocre one and that can define your entire stay. In terms of common facilities, the hotel is a bit bare-bones. However, the professional and courteous staff makes it all work.
Check-in is available from 16:00 and check-out is required by 12:00.
