This Hilton hotel has a central location in New York and comfortable rooms.
The New York Hilton Midtown is a sophisticated international hotel located on Sixth Avenue between West 53rd and West 54th streets. The hotel is 2 minutes away from the Museum of Modern Art and a short walking distance from Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and Carnegie Hall. Overall, a stellar location in the heart of Midtown Manhattan with dozens of transport links nearby.
The hotel offers a whopping 1907 rooms over 47 floors all with HDTVs, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, Wi-Fi access, work desks, blackout curtains, and armchairs. There are no fridges or coffee/tea making facilities, unfortunately. A microwave in the room comes at a hefty extra charge. In general, the rooms are clean, quiet, and comfortable. For a unique experience, book the "Stay Like Wicked" suite, inspired by the musical "Wicked," featuring an art deco aesthetic and stunning views of the skyline.
You are forced to pay for a daily credit to use anywhere within the hotel - this mandates that you purchase overpriced food and drinks you otherwise may not want to. Moreover, it makes the bar crowded at most times. The credit doesn't even roll over the next day - use it or lose it (and still pay)!
Herb N' Kitchen is the hotel's restaurant but it's not a regular sit-down venue. It serves sandwiches, salads, and dishes throughout the day and breakfast with many options in the morning. The bar is tucked away off the lobby with a great selection of wines and drinks but is very overpriced, even for a hotel in Manhattan.
The hotel has multiple meeting and event spaces for any type of event.
New York Hilton Midtown stays true to its promise of contemporary rooms and a central location. However, the extra charges here and there, and the lack of a proper dining venue mean it misses out on the top spots.
