Right next to Grand Central Terminal is this four star hotel with spacious rooms and a helpful staff.
The Hyatt Grand Central New York is directly connected to the iconic Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. It's within walking distance of many of Manhattan's famous landmarks, including the Chrysler Building, Times Square, Fifth Avenue shopping, the Empire State Building, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, and the Theatre District. It's as central as can be. The subway station at Grand Central is 2 minutes away and allows access to any other part of the city.
The rooms are large and comfortable even for more than 2 people. The beds are nice too. Unfortunately, the rooms are a bit bare bones with many of the standard amenities (fridge, coffee maker, microwave) missing. There are flat-screen TVs and iPod docking stations in all rooms though.
The breakfast buffet is very overpriced even if it's of pretty good quality. Guests receive food credit to use at a food market inside the lobby but the lack of complimentary water means you'd be spending half of it on water.
There are many hidden charges that will certainly surprise many staying at the hotel: resort and destination fees, food credit, etc. Had the hotel had more amenities, the resort fee would have been warranted but with facilities lacking, it leaves a very sour taste and a feeling of being ripped off.
The gym is small compared to the number of guests and insufficiently equipped. There is no operational restaurant at the hotel.
The Hyatt Grand Central New York receives maximum points for location but loses many on pretty much everything else. It doesn't help that it charges hidden resort fees for amenities that fall very short of a resort experience. It's not a good value for money but you can rationalize a short stay there if you need a central location.
Check-in is available from 16:00 and check-out is required by 11:00.
