A modern four star hotel that provides comfortable rooms and a convenient location in the city.
The Lexington Hotel, Autograph Collection, is an Art Deco hotel built in the 1920s and located at the corner of Lexington Avenue and 48th Street in Midtown Manhattan. It's very near Grand Central Terminal and within walking distance of many of New York's famous landmarks and the UN headquarters. Over the years, The Lexington Hotel has been associated with notable figures, including Marilyn Monroe, who resided there during her marriage to Joe DiMaggio.
The 27-story building has 700 rooms and 25 suites. The decor in the rooms is inspired by the Jazz Age of the 1920s, whereas the interior is sleek, with dark wood furnishings and blackout drapes, and most rooms offer views of Manhattan. The rooms are small but clean and comfy. The marble bathrooms contain a curved shower curtain. Inside the rooms, you will also find a granite-top work desk with an ergonomic chair, a flat-screen TV with streaming options, a coffee maker, and a safe.
The Crush gym on-site is perhaps the best facility at the hotel - well-equipped and spacious.
The hotel houses an on-site Starbucks. It, together with the small bar and breakfast hall, are the only options for dining and cocktails on-site. Breakfast is included in most room rates and is satisfactory - a standard selection of American breakfast favorites, although the plastic mugs and paper cups are a questionable choice.
The Lexington Hotel is trying to stay true to its historic stature as an upscale hotel. It is unfortunately lagging behind many of the contemporary trends even as a part of the Mariott Autograph Collection. Nonetheless, it's an adequate hotel in a good area of the city and for a price tag that's lower than other Mariott hotels, it remains a good value.
