Our summary of Hotel Casanova

Hotel Casanova has a stellar location in Venice just steps away from Piazza San Marco. The Ponte Rialto is an 8-minute walk away. The hotel is surrounded by many shops, authentic restaurants, museums, and other popular attractions. The water bus stop at San Marco is a minute away on foot.

The hotel rooms follow a classic Venetian style. The walls have wallpapers which is an odd choice though in general, the hotel's ornate furnishings reflect the spirit of historic Venice. Each room has air conditioning, satellite TV, and complimentary wifi, which may be patchy on higher floors. The rooms are on the small side but clean and comfortable. Not all rooms offer good views. Some have balconies. The top-floor suite has a panoramic terrace. The bathrooms are new and improved.

The continental breakfast served in the hotel's dining area is pretty good and generous but you won't be surprised with anything new after the first day. The hotel does not have an on-site restaurant for lunch or dinner, however, you'll be spoiled for choice in Central Venice just outside. Some listings of the hotel may show a rooftop bar which frankly just does not exist.

The elevator goes to the 4th floor out of 5 in total.

The reception is open 24/7 and can help with bookings and advice. There is luggage storage and laundry facilities. However, the hotel does not feature a fitness center or spa facilities.

Hotel Casanova's location in Venice is simply unbeatable but leaves a lot to be desired from a 4-star hotel.
