The building dates to 1475 and has retained its feel of a noble private residence that belonged to Doge Andrea Gritti, hence the name. It offers unbeatable views of the Santa Maria della Salute Basilica and the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. The hotel is a 3-minute walk from the Giglio vaporetto (water bus) stop, an 8-minute walk from Piazza San Marco, and a 10-minute walk from the Bridge of Sighs.
The hotel features 82 rooms and suites, each lavishly adorned with Venetian antiques, Murano glass chandeliers, and luxurious Rubelli fabrics. Everything about the rooms is pure opulence - no effort was spared to create an absolute fantasy of riches and luxury. The rooms come with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom with bathrobes and slippers. Room service is available 24/7.
Breakfast is surprisingly not included in the room rate which is a letdown given the very high price tag. However, should you opt for it, it does not disappoint.
