An affordable hotel with a great location in central Venice. It offers modern, cozy rooms and a friendly staff. Close to St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. The area has many good restaurants and shops. Many guests choose to stay here because the hotel is well located, close to museums and attractions.

Hotel Rio is located in Venice's Castello district, just a few steps plus a small bridge away from the Basilica di San Marco on the iconic piazza. The Bridge of Sighs is 3 minutes away on foot, while Ponte di Rialto is a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is very near the San Zaccaria dock for convenient waterborne transport across Venice, including Santa Lucia railway station, Marco Polo Airport, and other outlying islands.

The hotel's 18 rooms are each equipped with air conditioning, free wifi, flat-screen TVs, and private bathrooms with complimentary toiletries and hairdryers. Technically, the hotel comprises 2 buildings - the main one overlooking Campo Santi Filippo e Giacomo, and an annex accessible through a small courtyard on the back side of the main building. The rooms are split between the two but the main is arguably better, so if possible, opt for a room in it. All rooms are rather small which is normal for historic properties in Venice. In general, the rooms are cozy and clean, well-equipped and maintained, including proper heating, although the AC could pose problems sometimes. The decor is modern, despite the age of the building. The rooms and the hotel at large are very quiet, especially the rooms that open towards the side alley.

Breakfast is free but basic and not a big selection. Anyhow, there are many other options near the hotel.

Hotel Rio's combination of an excellent location, cleanliness, and friendly staff make it a fabulous boutique hotel for short stays in the center of Venice.
