Prince Palace Hotel is situated atop Bo Bae Tower, a renowned wholesale clothing market on the edge of Bangkok's historic district. The hotel is close to the Urupong Train Station (12 minutes), and a minute away from a stop of the small river ferry. Bo Be Market and Mahanak Market are also within walking distance. On the flip side, the MRT and Skytrain are not very close, although a public bus can connect you to either in little time.
At first sight, the hotel rooms may look more luxurious than you'd expect for the price. Upon further inspection, you may discover small signs of wear and tear and that certain amenities need renewal. Perhaps in the past, the rooms were great but with little maintenance over the years, their condition has deteriorated a lot. As a small consolation, there is plenty of space in the rooms and many of them have views of the Mahanak Canal and the city's skyline. All rooms have air conditioning, cable TV, and en-suite bathrooms with bathtubs and complimentary toiletries.
The dining scene at the hotel is actually pretty good with several restaurants on the premises, serving different cuisines. Find plenty of street food options below too.
The hotel also features two outdoor pools, one of which is on the rooftop, and a full-service spa offering traditional Thai massages. The good-sized gym is suitable for most workouts.
Prince Palace Hotel survives on the reputation it has built over the years but fails to properly maintain its rooms and facilities to the same high standard. The result is an old, outdated hotel with a great location and nice views, presumably glitzy, but lacking in many aspects.
