This popular Hilton hotel offers several dining options and well-maintained rooms.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York Times Square West is located within a 10-minute walk of Times Square, the Broadway theaters, and the Empire State Building. It's opposite the Port Authority building and the nearest subway station is less than 5 minutes on foot away.
The hotel offers a choice of 612 modern rooms. They have an authentic Theater District-inspired interior and artworks, however, they have dated considerably since the times when they were modern and new. Many rooms on higher floors (the hotel is 37 stories high) offer stunning views of the Hell's Kitchen skyline or the Hudson River. All rooms have Hilton's signature Sweet Dreams beds, air conditioning, a work desk, a coffee maker, a wide HDTV, a hairdryer, and an iron/ironing board. There is no fridge in the room and some have found them rather small but this is normal for New York. They are well-suited if you intend to spend most of your time exploring the city.
The breakfast is a big letdown. The selection is poor and the quality doesn't help either.
The Tranzit Restaurant and Bar features indoor, garden, and atrium seating and offers all-day dining. The other venue is the HighBar Rooftop which offers cocktails + views - a classic New York combination. Unfortunately, it's temporarily closed at the time of writing.
The fitness center is well-equipped for any sort of workout routine.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York Times Square West is pretty good when it comes to location and availability of amenities. However, it's subpar when it comes to the quality of those amenities and the overall value for money it offers.
