Hotel Castello is located just 200 meters from Piazza San Marco and very near most places of interest in Venice. The nearby San Zaccaria Vaporetto stop is perfect for reaching other places in the city via water or getting to the hotel from the airport or the train/bus station. Ponte di Rialto is just 10 minutes away on foot.

The hotel is housed in a historic building with an old-world character and preserved traditional Venetian decor, including Persian rugs and Murano glass lamps. The hotel's 23 rooms are individually air-conditioned. Every room has a minibar, flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom with complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. Some rooms look towards the dome of Basilica di San Marco and the recognizable red rooftops of Venice. The rooms are rather small, typical for Venice. Most of them are a bit dated and the carpet and fabric wallpaper is a questionable choice but otherwise, they make for a pleasant stay.

The continental breakfast is a cheap addon but does not leave a lasting impression for variety or taste. You can easily find better options in the nearby bakeries or eateries.

The hotel's pretty rooftop terrace is worth the climbed stairs (there's no elevator in the building) and presents a nice area to relax and observe the city.

The ancient staircase, dating back to the 1700s, is a unique feature of the hotel and a memorable sight.

Hotel Castello offers good value for money with its awesome location, friendly service, and unique character. The rooms may be a bit small and the furnishings outdated but in general it's a pleasant retro Venetian experience.
