Our summary of CHERN

CHERN Bangkok is a modern hostel located in the Phra Nakhon district - the historic old town of Bangkok. The hostel is just 10 minutes on foot away from the Sam Yot station of the MRT and within walking distance of the Giant Swing (4 minutes) and the Golden Mountain Temple (9 minutes). Khao San Road, the backpackers' Mecca, is a 15-minute walk away.

The hostel features both private rooms and shared dormitories. The rooms are large and comfortable with a clean design. All private rooms have air conditioning, access to free wifi, a fridge, and en-suite bathrooms. Dorms have a shared bathroom inside. The dormitory bunk beds are comfortable and have individual sockets but lack privacy curtains. A nice original touch is the Thai idioms and proverbs that adorn the walls.

A big benefit of staying at this hostel is the outdoor swimming pool set within a pleasant, green, and quiet garden. The communal lounge area has many board games and even a giant dartboard so you can have fun and meet some people.

Breakfast is served directly on the base floor starting at 7 AM. The selection is mediocre and lacks variety to suit all tastes, but it is nonetheless filling. The on-site restaurant is open only until 14:00 and offers a limited menu for lunch.

CHERN Bangkok is an overall nice hostel to stay at with clean rooms, quiet surroundings, and a good location to explore both the old and the new areas of the city.
