The hotel provides a great service level and room that are comfortable.
Villa De Khaosan by Chillax is a boutique hotel with a pleasant French colonial charm. It's situated in Bangkok's old town and historic area, close to the famous Khao San Road, popular with backpackers. The hotel is a 3-minute walk from the Phra Arthit boat pier for public boats traveling via the Chao Phraya River. It's not close to any stations of the MRT or the Skytrain but a combination of bus, boat, and mass transit can get you anywhere within the city.
The rooms are designed in a way that captures the essence of 1680s French architecture - a period when the French started exploring the country of Siam. All rooms are air-conditioned and include a desk, an electric teapot, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom with a shower. The rooms are a bit small, especially for Bangkok. Minor issues arise occasionally - some guests have complained of inefficient AC, others of persistent noise, and yet others of the lack of windows in their room. In general, the rooms are not luxurious but clean and comfortable anyhow.
The hotel's rooftop swimming pool presents a million-dollar view of the Grand Palace and Bangkok's Old Town. Such an awesome amenity and you get to use it even after check-out time!
There is an on-site restaurant that offers various Thai meals although the quality and taste are questionable. Thankfully, many street vendors will happily prepare you something just around the corner.
Villa De Khaosan by Chillax is an awesome place to stay as a first-timer in Bangkok if you want to check out the historical sites. It's a bit rough around the edges but is overall a great hotel and an awesome value for money.
