In the heart of midtown Manhattan you can stay in clean, well-equipped rooms.
Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan is situated on Broadway right next to the Walter Kerr Theater. Times Square is a mere 6 minutes walk away. The hotel is also near Central Park, the Rockefeller Center, and numerous dining and shopping options in Midtown Manhattan. The hotel's facade of pink granite and glass is one of the most recognizable in New York.
The rooms and suites are each equipped with flat-screen TVs, ergonomic workspaces, and high-speed internet access. The entire hotel faces Broadway and many rooms offer stunning views of the skyline, while others, on the back, look towards the Hudson River. Missing inside are fridges and coffee makers. The rooms are generally clean and comfortable but the design and decor are a bit dated and various amenities in the room show signs of wear and tear. On the flip side, they are larger than average and well-organized to create an airy environment. The rooms are quiet unless you open the windows in which case the traffic down under creates disturbance.
The breakfast is very disappointing - instead of a sit-down buffet, you only get a choice between 3 items to eat outside or in your room.
A high resort fee is charged daily which makes you wonder what amenities you're actually paying for, as there are barely any: no on-site restaurant, no gym, spa, or pool, no room service, and limited common spaces.
Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan emphasizes its history as an upscale hotel. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case - the property is aging and has few other plus sides to maintain its status. Yes, the rooms are clean and good enough but at this price, one should expect more.
